A total of 23757 vacancies are available for Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster and Dak Sevak posts across various postal circles in India. One-time registration started on 31 August 2026 and remains open till 19 September 2026. Online applications and fee payment began on 2 September 2026 and will close on 21 September 2026 at 5 PM. Candidates who have passed Class 10 with Mathematics and English from a recognised board and are aged between 18 and 40 years can apply. Application Fee
Male candidates of UR, OBC and EWS categories need to pay Rs 100.

Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 40 years as on 21 September 2026.
Age relaxation is available for reserved categories as per government rules. SC and ST candidates get 5 years relaxation. OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation.

Major circle-wise vacancies include Maharashtra 2431, North Eastern 2614, Tamil Nadu 2118, West Bengal 1762, Uttar Pradesh 1691, Madhya Pradesh 1450, Jharkhand 1379, Kerala 1373, Odisha 1353, Karnataka 1116 and Bihar 1098. Remaining vacancies are distributed across other postal circles.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination of Class 10 from a recognised board of school education.
They must have secured passing marks in Mathematics and English.
Candidates must have studied the local language of the postal circle or post applied for at least up to Class 10.
Basic knowledge of computer is required. Ability to ride a bicycle is also needed.
Selection Process
There is no written examination or interview.
Selection is based entirely on a system-generated merit list prepared from the marks obtained in Class 10.
Marks or grades are converted into percentage calculated up to four decimal places.
In case of tie in marks, preference is given as per the rules fixed by the Department including date of birth and category.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for physical verification of original documents at the concerned Divisional or Unit Head office.
After successful document verification, candidates will receive offer of provisional engagement and must complete pre-engagement formalities including three days of basic training.
