Coal India Limited conducted the Computer Based Test for Management Trainee posts under Advertisement Number 03/2026 on 24 August 2026. The examination was held for a total of 660 vacancies across disciplines including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, System, Electronics and Telecommunication, Geology, Industrial Engineering, Rajbhasha and Company Secretary. Around 129870 candidates appeared in the CBT. The provisional answer key and response sheets were released on 30 August 2026 and the objection window remained open till 3 September 2026. The CIL MT Result 2026 along with discipline wise merit list and cut off marks is expected to be declared in the second week of September 2026 on the official website coalindia.in. Candidates who qualify will be called for document verification and initial medical examination. Eligibility required a full time engineering degree or equivalent with minimum 60 percent marks for general category and 55 percent for reserved categories. The upper age limit was 30 years for general candidates as on 30 April 2026 with relaxations for reserved categories. The selection process is based solely on CBT marks followed by document verification and medical examination. There is no interview or physical test for these posts.
The final answer key will be prepared after reviewing all valid objections raised by candidates. Marks will be calculated on the basis of the final answer key.
The result will contain the list of shortlisted candidates category wise and discipline wise. Individual scorecards are also expected to be made available for download.

Selection Process
The selection process consists of a Computer Based Test of 200 marks. The CBT has two papers of 100 marks each with no negative marking. Qualifying marks are 40 in each paper for general and EWS, 35 for OBC and 30 for SC ST and PwBD. A discipline wise merit list will be prepared on the basis of CBT scores. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and initial medical examination. There is no interview stage.
No physical standard test or physical efficiency test is prescribed for Management Trainee posts.

Official cut off marks will be released along with the result. Minimum qualifying marks in each paper are fixed as under.
